Description:

One of eight northern mallard eggs (Anas platyrhynchos platyrhynchos) collected from the Georgian Bay, Bruce County (see CBE2349 - CBE2356). Incubation was fresh at the time of collection and identification was made when the bird was flushed. The nest was "a slight hollow in ground under thick brush, lined with down. Nest was on small island in Georgian Bay," (Pickering slip).
