Description:
Photograph of a girls' basketball game in play. Ten players, dressed in white middy blouses and dark-colored bloomers, wait for the referee to toss the ball up for the tip-off. Various spectators line the level above the court where a large "Ashley Hall" banner with swastikas can be seen behind the crowd. Several "Ashley Hall" pennants are also visible around the balcony. At this time, the swastika was a popular symbol of good luck. The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit "svastika" and means "well-being."
