Black and white photograph of snow covered streets and buildings after the blizzard looking east on Concord Street toward the Cooper River. The East Shore Railroad waterfront building with a sign to "Isle of Palms" is just visible in the far right corner with the Bartholomany Brewery Company next to it. Sams set his camera up in the middle of Concord Street to capture the railroad tracks with the Grace Memorial Bridge at the end. Printed from a glass plate negative held in the Museum's collections.

The "Great Blizzard of 1899" or the "Great Arctic Outbreak of 1899" brought a mixture of snow and sleet to Charleston on February 11 - 12, with reported temperatures of 7?F and four inches of snow.
