Gavia stellata, Loon egg
Description:
One of two red-throated loon eggs collected from Skoynesi, Iceland (see CBE1557-CBE1558). Collector W. Raine described the nest as, "a pile of weeds and vegetable matter." Raine also noted incubation had begun. Later acquired by Alexander Sprunt.
