Gelochelidon nilotica, Tern egg
Contact The Charleston Museum for image use and credit instructions.
Description:
One of four gull-billed tern eggs (Gelochelidon nilotica aranea) collected from Deveaux Bank near Rockville. Cutts' slip described the nest as "a few reed stems in slight indenture in sand on small grass-topped mound on large sand bar off Seabrook Beach." The eggs had been freshly laid at the time of collection and their identification was confirmed by observing the nearby birds (see CBE1991 - CBE1994).
