Paine has posed them on the front steps of the Savannah Clubhouse and the 1905 Champion, Andrew Manson, can be seen standing on the back row leaning against the left column. Paine notes on reverse, "Southern Golf Championship. Savannah Ga. May [19]05. Group in front of Savannah Clubhouse."

The Southern Amateur was an amateur golf tournament that started in 1902 and played at match play until 1964 when it changed to stroke play. Andrew Manson won the tournament in 1904 and 1905.
