Photograph of amateur golfers, Andrew Manson and Lawrence Eustis, at the 9th hole after Eustis has just completed a drive. Manson is seen in motion walking and a crowd of spectators can be seen in the distance. Paine notes on reverse, "L. Eustis driving on 9th Tee in play off of qualification Tie with Andrew Manson for gold medal."
The Southern Amateur was an amateur golf tournament that started in 1902 and played at match play until 1964 when it changed to stroke play. Andrew Manson won the tournament in 1904 and 1905.
