Description:
A red and gray, medium-grained granite hydrothermally altered by solutions which introduced minute crystals of red iron oxide into the feldspar. This specimen has two sides that had been cut smooth. It was collected about 4 miles south of the large crushed stone quarry at Rion, circa 1972. Red granite is very rare in SC.
