Description:

One of three herring gull (Larus argentstus smithsonianus) eggs (CBE8911 -CBE8913) collected from the Isle of Nors. Proud noted that the eggs had been freshly laid at the time of collection and the nests for this species were "usually built on the rocks and made of seaweed."
