Description:

One of three glaucous gull eggs (Larus hyperboreus hyperboreus) (see CBE1865 - CBE1867) collected from Kelduhverfi in Northern Iceland. Palsson's slip noted the eggs had been freshly laid at the time of collection and their identification was made due to observing the parent leaving the nest. Addtionally, the nest "was some 200 yards from sea at the opening of a large river. It was on a[n] open flat sandy spot. [The] eggs resting on some scraps of vegetables." They were later acquired by Ernest Cutts.
