Description:

One of three laughing gull eggs (Leucophaeus atricilla atricilla) collected by Ernest Cutts from Deveaux Bank near Rockville. Cutts' slip described the nest as being a "slight indenture in sand lined with reed stems and coarse grass in high grass on side of sand dune on bar at mouth of Edisto River. He also noted the multitude of birds utilizing the area stating that "thousands of terns, skimmers and pelicans also inhabit this bar." Incubation of the eggs had started by time of collection and identification was confirmed by observing the birds in the area (see CBE1950 - CBE1952).
