Description:

One of nine red-breasted merganser eggs that were collected from Laxardal, North Iceland when incubation had began and positively identified by the nesting bird (see CBE2324 - CBE2332). The nest "was placed under a slab of lava stone on a small islet in river Laxardal. It was a slight hollow in the ground lined with dead grass and mosses, also some down," (Palsson slip).
