Description:
One of three Atlantic brown pelican eggs (Pelecanus occidentalis carolinensis) collected near Rockville, Deveax Bank when freshly incubated (see CBE2318 - CBE2320). Identified by the nearby birds. The nest was made up "of sticks and reed stems and built up from the ground to a height of 8 inches in a colony on bank at mouth of Edisto River," (Cutts slip).
