Description:
Photograph of spectators watching the horse race at the track on Belvidere Plantation. Paine captured William S. Gaillard on Marguerite coming in second behind Robert Hamer on Cockspur in the Berkeley open. See MK 14716 for enlarged photograph. Photographer's notation on reverse, "The Belvidere Race Meet, Eutawville, S.C. Dec 1936. Paine Photo." Paine had sent this photograph in to the "Charleston News and Courier" in hopes it would be used in an article published on December 6.
