Description:
Storage jar created by enslaved potter, David Drake (Dave the Potter), for Herman Panziebieter Groceries. Drake designed the ovoid body with two crock or ear-shaped handles at each side beneath the rolled rim and finished it with a green-tinted alkaline glaze coated inside and out. The full inscription reads, "H. Panziebieter Groceries King & Columbus Street, Charleston, S.C." Currently on exhibit in the Museum's First Hall.
