Description:

Black and white photograph of a USO event in Charleston during World War II. Six soldiers (five Army, one Navy) appear to be eating doughnuts (?) and drinking coffee with only one hand as several people watch. It is likely an eating contest to see which man can finish first. A large banner with "USO" hangs in the background and handwritten on reverse identifies two of the soldiers as, "John H. Carroll and Leo G. St. Denis". A few Halloween decorations are visible indicating this might have taken place in late October or early November.
